Rahama Fisheries

Rahama Fisheries Limited (RFL) is considered one of the leading fish farm in north central Nigeria. Incorporated on the 20th of December 2019, RFL is becoming widely known in the nation as according to the market analysis, internal fish sales from RFL in Maiduguri exceed the forecast and are expected to see a huge demand in numerous cities such as Port Harcourt, Lagos, Abuja and Kano over the next 2 years. RFL has a total of 30 ponds capable of stocking 8000 fingerlings and juveniles per pond and produces table size fish round the year. In addition the farm has a hatchery, dry fish and feed mill sections. The use of latest technological equipment in fish feed production has improved the quality and quantity of fish produced in the newly reconstituted RFL. Even the ponds are constructed using advanced civil engineering procedures. Some of the technological innovations include use of electrical/solar fish dryer, production of extruded (floating feed) and rearing of super Y red tailed tilapia. 46 employees are employed in the Fisheries unit and the number is expected to increase in the coming years. Though there was a slight decline in the past year, more and more people are seeking employment opportunities in the reconstituted fisheries industry.

The Hatchery

With 30 ponds on the farm, and the fingerlings being a raw material for fish production, the farm is developing an automated hatchery where fingerlings will be hatched under the best conditions for fish production.

The farm has 4 fuel water pumps, 2 diesel based water pumps, 2 electric water pumps

The Farm House

The farm boasts of a staff quarters that accommodates it's staff. There is also a clinic and a kitchen and mosque for their welfare.

RFL chief Executive Director, M.N. Adamu has announced construction of the access road to the farm and fish processing complex to facilitate the effective exportation of dried fish to Saudi Arabia which is expected to add several new jobs to the rural people.

The farm is located in shabu village, in Kokona local government in Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
